Sally Hansen – Textured Nails + Tutorial

Textured Tape Nails

As you may or may not know, I am an ambassador for the Sally Hansen I heart nail art contest! Each month I post a design and tutorial for that month’s theme to give you ideas (and also to make you go enter! :) ) If you win, you get a trip to New York, $500, and a chance to compete again for $2,000.

At first I wasn’t sure how I could incorporate texture into my nail art – but then it hit me! I’ve been wanting to try using tape for quite some time and I wanted to see if it worked with the texture. I’m definitely pleased with this as its my first time using tape for nails! I hope you guys love it and that it inspires you to try tape…its much easier than I thought it would be.

Entering the contest is as easy as tagging an instagram picture with #iheartnailart. You can also go here on facebook and upload a photo as well.

What I Used:
Sally Hansen Fuschia Flare
Sally Hansen Sugar Coat – Gummy Grape
Sally Hansen Sugar Coat – Spare-A-Mint?
Sally Hansen Fuzzy Coat – Tweedy

Remember this post I did last week? Well the month of April is over so the next round of the Sally Hansen I Heart Nail Art competition has begun! This month’s theme is Street Style.

What is Street Style you ask? According to Sally Hansen it is “heavy metal, pop art, and graffiti glam”! These nails kind of encompass heavy metal and grunge. The distressed denim texture gives the perfect background to add heavy metal studs and embellishments. Go crazy, have fun! :)

What I Used:
-Sally Hansen Blue My Mind
-Sally Hansen White On
-Sally Hansen Black Out
-Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen in blue
-Nail Art Brush
-Studs (click the link for where to find some)

Just as last month’s post had, I have a video and pictorial for you guys! (click on the pictorial for an enlarged image!!)

Black and White

Published on 25 April, 2013, in Black, Nail Art, White.

Black and White Nails www.chelseasgetnailed.com

Since starting school to get my manicurist license (not to mention going to college as well!) I was worried I would never have time to do my nails. Luckily there is some downtime during nail school so I am still able to get some nail art in :)

Lately I’ve started using acrylic paint instead of nail polish for my nail art, and I absolutely love it! I use it straight out of the bottle and it doesn’t dry up like how nail polish does. I found black and white acrylic paint at Michael’s Craft Store for 99 cents each (what a deal!) and they have tons of colors. Definitely going back next week to get some more :)
